W is for Waterfalls

“I love the sounds and the power of pounding water, whether it is the waves or a waterfall” This quote by Mike May describes exactly how I feel about water. I have had two dreams for a good portion of my life and they are: to visit as many of the beautiful waterfalls in our wonderful world and to visit as many lighthouses. Both bring me to the water, which I love.

Fulfilling my two dreams will continue to be a work in progress for as long as I am on this earth. For nine years of my life I lived in Hamilton Ontario which is home to Websters Falls (the first photo). It was a favorite spot of mine but once I moved away, I never got the opportunity to visit again until this year. I will admit the climb was a bit harder than I remember but the view was still as glorious as ever.

While in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee I made another tough climb to visit Laurel Falls in Cades Cove in the National Park. There were times, i didn’t think my lungs were going to get me there but once I viewed the rushing water of the falls, I was so glad I made it. By the way, the climb down was a breeze .lol

Of course, a post about waterfalls wouldn’t be complete without a view of the magnificent Niagara Falls. When I lived in Hamilton, I visited here so many times, you would have thought, I would tire of the view. But I never did. When I moved back to Windsor, I missed the fact that I was so close. Now going to Niagara Falls is a longer drive and requires a stay-over of at least a night, so I do not get the opportunity too often.

There you have it. W is for Waterfall and these are just three of several I have seen. Of course, there are bigger and better falls in the world but I did enjoy my visits to all these and hope you did too.
